They were extremely generous with their time, meeting us at the station, giving us an introductory walk around town to show us their favourite cafes, bars and restaurants. The Poets Retreat is a stylish and high end fit out, perfect for two couples. The apartment has everything travellers staying for a longer period could want. A fabulous kitchen & appliances, large lounge & bedrooms with stunning views of the surrounding mountains & a secure ground floor cantina to store bicycles. 

The apartment is ideally located, walking distance to everything for those without a car. "

"In the middle of the historic old town, through a large, old gate over several stairs and an inner courtyard, the apartment opened up to us. We were in a very spacious apartment with three bedrooms and a beautiful living room, a shower room and a bathroom, a comfortable kitchen-diner and a small romantic balcony. 

You immediately feel at home here.

This apartment is so beautiful and also so comfortable and well equipped that we have decided to come back to get to know Sulmona and its surroundings even better.

"In the total course of our trip so far, we have had accommodation in well over 20 different apartments… and I can tell you that overall, yours has been by some margin the best that we have experienced….  outstandingly high quality of renovation workmanship, fittings and supplied amenities, your apartment is extremely difficult to beat. In addition, the fantastically convenient position of the apartment in Sulmona centro and the close proximity to the free parking area were huge advantages."

"The entrance to the apartment is a beautifully restored oak studded door, a hint to the quality of the internal restoration... three bedrooms all furnished with beautiful antique furniture, with modern conveniences such as effective quiet air conditioning in each room. The four-poster bedroom we stayed in had white top quality bed linen, the pillows were perfect and we were supplied with plenty of fluffy white towels and spare duvets and blankets. The kitchen is equipped with all high-end Bosch/Smeg appliances... the kitchen lacks for nothing... There are two bathrooms, although furnished with modern bathroom facilities the grandeur of the rooms has not been compromised. We have no hesitation in recommending, it lacks for nothing! "

"We found the apartment is well equipped, comfortable and has a very high-end feel to it, with great attention to detail. The location is a two minute walk to the many cafes, bars and boutique shops in the exceptionally pretty town of Sulmona. A must is the easy drive to the regions's capital, L'Aquila with its history and rather grand architecture. The scenery in Abruzzo is truly breathtaking and walking in the mountains and National Parks was a great way to take it all in. Andrew and Katja are extremely helpful hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them."
